STEPS FOR PUTTING THE FATHER’S DAY CUPCAKES TOGETHER:

These are super easy to put together.

Literally all you have to do is bake your cupcakes and make your buttercream.

You’ll add your buttercream to your piping bag that’s fitted with a 1M or 2D piping tip and then pipe a swirl onto your cupcakes.

If you need a little help on how to pipe onto cupcakes, check out this post here: Piping Rosettes

You’ll want to print out your free toppers. (You can find them in the supply list above or just click on the graphic below and it will download automatically.)

It’s best to print them out on cardstock, so that they aren’t as flimsy as regular paper is.

Now you could either cut them out with scissors, or use a 2″ circle punch to punch them out. Just make sure to cut the toppers into strips and then hold the hole punch upside down, so you can see where you’re cutting.

After you’ve cut out the toppers, turn them face-down and tape on a toothpick.

Now all you’ve got to do is pop them into your cupcakes!

TIP: It’s good to add these just before serving if you can though, that way the printables won’t have time to soak up any butter from the icing.

Voila! A super easy treat for Dad!

Kara there are no instructions for converting the layer cake into cupcakes. How much do you fill liners and for how long do you bake? And at what temp?

Chandra, Are you referring the chocolate butter cake recipe? You can essentially use any chocolate cake recipe you want for these, but if you want to use the chocolate butter cake on my site, that’s fine too. I haven’t used it a ton of times for cupcakes (mostly just for cakes), but they should turn out just fine. You should be able to fill the cupcake liners slightly over halfway full. (So like 2/3 of the way full…pretty much how you do with a cake mix etc.) You’ll still bake them at 350 degrees and start checking at about 15 minutes…although they’ll need a little more baking than that…probably closer to 20-25. The top of the cupcake should spring back when touched.
